On Friday, 26 June, Smile Foundation hosted another Burns Laser Treatment Slate at Nelson Mandela Children's Hospital , made possible through the continued support of Reatile Group (Pty) Limited

Lesedi after 2 years of burns laser treatment has officially started to grow hair again. A clear example of how important this treatment is.
Their continued sponsorship of up to three Burns Care Slates each quarter enables children living with burn injuries to access specialised laser treatments that improve scar appearance, reduce discomfort, increase mobility, and restore confidence.
This latest treatment slate saw five young patients receive life-changing care.
One of those children was Lesedi.
Lesedi continues to show remarkable courage throughout her recovery journey. While she has already made significant progress, she still experiences a contracture that prevents her from fully extending her arm. Friday's laser treatment marks another important milestone in her rehabilitation, and she will return for two further treatments as part of her ongoing care.
Stories like Lesedi's remind us that healing doesn't happen in a single procedure, it happens through consistent care, long-term commitment, and partners who choose to stand beside children and their families throughout the journey.
